The Addington Conservation Team
hold regular workdays.

We have a programme of workdays planned and would love to see a few more faces.

Path Clearing & Coppicing

This workday we cleared paths that had been blocked by fallen trees and continued with the Coppicing work in Castle Hill Ruffs.

Rowdown Wood Survey

John pointed out some invasive species. Sycamore and Norway Maple are not native species and they spread prolifically, threatening the native species of the woods.
We performed a woodland survey of Rowdown Woods as the first stage of creating a management plan for the woods.

We also decided which direction to extend the coppiced area at the bottom of Rowdown wood.

Clearing invasives

Too much Ivy can take vital light and nutrients from the tree
Clearing invasives in Birchwood including removing Ivy from around an ancient Crab Apple tree.

Sycamore saplings, which area non native trees, seed themselves easily and threaten native species of trees.
